Excitation of a bound state in the continuum via spontaneous symmetry breaking

Bound states in the continuum (BICs) are nonradiating solutions of wave equation with a spectrum embedded propagating waves surrounding space. The complete decoupling BICs from radiation makes their excitation impossible far-field. Here, we develop general theory parametric nonlinear systems Kerr-type nonlinearity via spontaneous symmetry breaking, which results coupling BIC and bright mode system. Using temporal coupled-mode perturbation analysis, find threshold intensity for study possible stable unstable depending on pump frequency detuning between BIC. We reveal that at some parameters beam, there no can be used comb generation. Our findings very promising use photonic devices all-optical networks.
